QA Manager – Software Development

Scope

In this role, you will be managing and directing software testers, scheduling their tasks, verifying their work and monitoring progress in support of development teams. You will create test plans, prepare regular reports and be a main point of contact to internal teams and external clients regarding new feature requests and bug tracking. You must have strong leadership & communication skills, be highly organized, and take ownership of your work. You will take part in the project planning effort with the project manager or technical lead to determine the estimate of work as well as the number and skill level of resources required to perform testing. You will be accountable for the overall quality management of a project and the coordination of assigned QA resources and provide regular reporting to ensure that all requirements are accounted for and that they meet the standard of quality necessary for any project.

Responsibility

• Manage and oversee QA and Integration Testing Environments
• Establish procedures and QA methodologies
• Establish quality standards / practices to be implemented
• Recruit, train and oversee team members in QA methods and practices
• Aid in managing software code control, testing processes and software deployment.
• Interface closely with internal development teams and client groups in support of software and production releases.
• Manage QA tools such as Axosoft OnTime.
• Coordinate and execute QA testing, create test plans, scripts, bug tracking, etc.
• Interact with software developers and the systems team to tune code, databases, and track all problem reports to closure.
• Effectively employ automation to reduce testing cycles on repeated tasks.

Qualifications

• 5 years Software Quality Assurance experience, including 2 years managing a QA team.
• Experience testing web applications, Web Services and .Net applications.
• Experience creating test cases (unit, GUI, UAT and stress), scripts, utilizing automated tools, including defect tracking and source code control (VSS).
• Formal software development life-cycle experience.
• Knowledge in scripting.
• Health Care and Integration experience would be beneficial.

Experience with the following technologies is considered an asset:
• Visual Studio 2003/2005/2008
• SQL Server 2000/2005
• Microsoft .NET framework
• HL7 messaging for hospital systems integration

Location

Our primary location is Toronto, but project teams are sometimes located onsite at our client locations.

Salary

$55k to $70K
