Scope

Is a solution visionary and is comfortable sharing knowledge, mentoring other team members, conducting code reviews and performance evaluations.

Adept at working in a collaborative team environment with the Project Manager and team members to develop and support Microsoft BizTalk applications.

Understands BizTalk theory, programming, design patterns and has the ability mediate between clients, architects and team members to design solutions throughout all phases of the software development process.

Works with clients to manage requirements, project scope and is comfortable presenting to stakeholder groups when needed.

Joins forces with project manager to estimate execution and delivery timelines, implement work packages, define and mitigate risks as well as document the solution for technology issues.

Can easily absorb and demonstrate new concepts and technologies as well as industry specific knowledge and expertise.

Responsibility

• Design, develop and support enterprise BizTalk solutions and integration components
• Develop technical design and architecture for integration solutions
• Work with a team of software developers to develop new applications and/or maintain existing applications.
• Work with end users during system design to determine functionality needs.
• Manage testing of application software to assure accuracy, integrity, completeness to achieve desired results.
• Plan development activities and monitors progress to completion.
• Work as part of a development team to implement solutions while following best practice methodologies.
• Solve problems and makes business decisions to carry out job duties. Weigh alternatives and determine appropriate course of action.
• Communicate with users during program development to review progress and ensure that requirements have been met.
• Present solutions and recommendations to stakeholders.
• Provide technical training and mentoring to other team members.
• Development prototype applications and solutions.
Qualifications
• University degree or college diploma in Computer Sciences or related major
• Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written
• Excellent problem solving skills
• 5+ years programming and software development experience
• 3+ years .NET programming experience
• 2+ years BizTalk development experience
• Strong understanding of EAI, SOA, and ESB architecture
• Strong understanding of and experience with Object Oriented design and development
• Solid understanding of enterprise integration patterns
• Solid understanding of software development patterns
• Ability to understand business problems
• MCSD or MCAD certification is preferred
Must possess excellent knowledge of:
• BizTalk Server 2004/2006 (Orchestrations, Schemas, Maps, etc)
• Visual Studio 2003/2005/2008
• SQL Server 2000/2005
• Microsoft .NET framework
• Windows 2003
• Web Services
• XML, XSLT

QA Manager – Software Development

QA Manager – Software Development

Scope

In this role, you will be managing and directing software testers, scheduling their tasks, verifying their work and monitoring progress in support of development teams. You will create test plans, prepare regular reports and be a main point of contact to internal teams and external clients regarding new feature requests and bug tracking. You must have strong leadership & communication skills, be highly organized, and take ownership of your work. You will take part in the project planning effort with the project manager or technical lead to determine the estimate of work as well as the number and skill level of resources required to perform testing. You will be accountable for the overall quality management of a project and the coordination of assigned QA resources and provide regular reporting to ensure that all requirements are accounted for and that they meet the standard of quality necessary for any project.

Responsibility

• Manage and oversee QA and Integration Testing Environments
• Establish procedures and QA methodologies
• Establish quality standards / practices to be implemented
• Recruit, train and oversee team members in QA methods and practices
• Aid in managing software code control, testing processes and software deployment.
• Interface closely with internal development teams and client groups in support of software and production releases.
• Manage QA tools such as Axosoft OnTime.
• Coordinate and execute QA testing, create test plans, scripts, bug tracking, etc.
• Interact with software developers and the systems team to tune code, databases, and track all problem reports to closure.
• Effectively employ automation to reduce testing cycles on repeated tasks.

Qualifications

• 5 years Software Quality Assurance experience, including 2 years managing a QA team.
• Experience testing web applications, Web Services and .Net applications.
• Experience creating test cases (unit, GUI, UAT and stress), scripts, utilizing automated tools, including defect tracking and source code control (VSS).
• Formal software development life-cycle experience.
• Knowledge in scripting.
• Health Care and Integration experience would be beneficial.

Experience with the following technologies is considered an asset:
• Visual Studio 2003/2005/2008
• SQL Server 2000/2005
• Microsoft .NET framework
• HL7 messaging for hospital systems integration

Location

Our primary location is Toronto, but project teams are sometimes located onsite at our client locations.

Senior Storage Specialist

The Senior Storage Specialist consults and provides direction on the planning, administering and provisioning of corporate data on all IT related projects, which includes Enterprise Storage, Direct Attached, SAN/NAS, and the Backup and Recovery Infrastructure. The Senior Storage Specialist works to understand the current implemented base to provide the roadmap to the future state.

Key Accountabilities

1. Lead the development of strategies for Storage infrastructure, existing technology and new strategic direction

2. Architects and designs how Storage related hardware and software are integrated into the infrastructure

3. Defines the storage subsystem architecture to support functional requirements and business needs

4. Provides and leads the technical direction for the Enterprise Storage environment

5. Provides technical support and direction on the build and implementation of Storage related changes

6. Liases with Storage vendor marketing and support groups to keep abreast of industry trends

7. Develops, maintains, deploys and enforces corporate Storage policies and standards

8. Provides technical and strategic direction input for our Enterprise Disaster Recovery process

9. Leads the evaluation and proof of concept for proposed storage architectures and technologies.

10. Leads the development and maintenance of Enterprise Storage Capacity Planning and Performance Monitoring

11. Provide level 2 escalation and hands-on support to project and operational activities; participates in the 7 x 24 pager rotation

12. Understands hierarchical storage management strategies and evaluates their impact and value in the overall design of an integrated storage management solution

13. Provides assistance to Procurement to ensure the Storage hardware and software quotations match the technology requirements

Position Requirements:

1. Expert understanding of the technologies, architectures and implementation issues of integrated storage solutions

2. Enterprise Storage Management experience in the Distributed/Open Systems and HP NonStop environment

3. Extensive experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting storage technologies including SAN, NAS, Fibre Channel, Enterprise Storage Arrays and Data Replication to support High Availability

4. Minimum 8 – 10 years Storage Management experience

5. University degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

6. Backup, recovery and Disaster Recovery experience with high availability solutions

7. Technical understanding of Solaris, Linux, Windows and Enterprise class servers

8. Experience in highly available systems and RAID configurations

9. Project management and strategic planning skills

10. Ability to inspire, lead and manage a technical team

11. Excellent oral and written communication skills

Peoplesoft Middleware Systems Analyst

As a member of the Project Team, the Middleware Systems Analyst will support the ongoing production, maintenance and implementation of the Finance, HR, Student Administration, Portal and Reporting functions of PeopleSoft. This position will work closely with the project managers, developers, analysts, testers and key business partners. This person will work in various teams, and will need to have the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines.

The incumbent provides technical analysis and support in one or more of the following areas: Finance, Human Resources, Research Administration, or Student.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
” Performs responsibilities as detailed on the approved Project Work Plan, engages and contributes to project meetings, and commits to training as required
” Setup and/or manage PeopleSoft environments:
o Install and configure PeopleSoft system on UNIX-style and Window servers in a multi-server, load balanced HA environment
o Manage web server, application server, reporting and process scheduler environments.
o Ensure PS environment health by resolving issues from system and data dictionary audits
” Environment Monitoring:
o Configure Application, Web and Batch server alerts and notifications
o Maintains up-to-date system with upgrades, patches and fixes.
o Integrate, monitor and manage integration with enterprise portal environment
” Server Admin tasks with batch, web and application server:
o Tune PeopleSoft Internet Architecture and report manager
o Provide support to Application development team with tuning and troubleshooting
o Troubleshoot server issues and monitor logs on a daily basis
o Assist with batch job setup and execution
o Provide support by troubleshooting and fine tuning performance issues.
” Provide support for the Change Management and Version Control procedures.
” Work with various tools, including PeopleSoft Tools, Change Asst, Upgrade Asst, Apps Designer, Data Mover, SQR, SQL, and STAT for change management and version control.
” Follow application deployment procedures that satisfy University IT Controls policies.
” Work with Database Administrator (DBA), UNIX System Administrator and application group to resolve technical issues.
” Informs Senior Systems Analyst or designated project manager of any information that may identify challenges to project schedules, missed project deliverables, incomplete tasks or inaccurate results
” Maintains operational status of production computer systems outside of normal working hours, including early morning, evening, nights, weekends and holidays.

REQUIRED BACKGROUND

” University degree with a concentration in computing or business with relevant experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
” Demonstrated proficiency in the development, implementation and maintenance of information systems.

SPECIALIZED SKILLS:

” Knowledge of multi-tier, multi-O/S application environments, including virtualization strategies.
” Experience with monitoring, response and remediation strategies.
” Knowledge of programming techniques, PeopleTools development technology and JDeveloper
” Knowledge of relational database design with Oracle, knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL
” Demonstrated analytical skills
” Understanding of the Software Design Life Cycle
” High degree of technical knowledge related to system management, tuning and performance
” Highly developed interpersonal skills to deal with both technical and non-technical staff at all levels

DECISION MAKING:

” Determines appropriate action to take when a system fails outside of normal working hours.
” Makes recommendations on appropriate solutions to system integration difficulties; responds appropriately to escalated support requirements to address application, database and maintenance problems
” Determines appropriate problem-solving procedures and decide how to best rectify the problem. Decide if a problem should be referred to others.
” Allocates time, prioritizes tasks and determines work flow. Continually assesses and adjusts priorities and manages tasks in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
